The Marriage Hex by Sarah Blue

Would I recommend The Marriage Hex by Sarah Blue? Yeah, I think I would if you’re looking for a cute and quick paranormal romance. It isn’t going to revolutionize the genre, but it is going to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. If you liked Bride, and want more like that, you’ll love this!

Hot Blooded by Heather Guerre

I have no idea how I found Hot Blooded by Heather Guerre. I’m betting I was probably just searching through different recs on either storygraph, goodreads, or amazon and thought yes, I would like an older FMC/vampire romance. I am honestly SO happy I picked this up! This book itself was great, and it made me pick up a few others by the same author.

Wed to the Lich by Layla Fae

Now, I’ve mentioned a few times how I’ll pick up a book on vibes alone. Wed to the Lich by Layla Fae is absolutely that type of book. I was clicking through recommendations and saw this cover and thought yes, this is made and meant for me. I was so glad to be so right when I finally got into it. It was sweet and sexy with just a bit of bite.

The Twisted Ones by T Kingfisher

The first book by T Kingfisher I ever read, I absolutely loved and I feel like I’ve been trying to chase that good book high ever since. That is what led me to picking up The Twisted Ones by T Kingfisher, despite having been disappointed by her in my last read. After this one, I’m really not sure if I’ll be as excited to dive back into her work. This fell flat, held no tension, and was incredibly predictable.

How to Help a Hungry Werewolf by Charlotte Stein

I picked up How to Help a Hungry Werewolf by Charlotte Stein because I thought the cover was cute and the description sold me on this being a cutesy enemies to lovers romance. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed, which really made me sad because I wanted to love this. A lot didn’t make sense and didn’t care to make sense. Female main character Cassie was practically a doormat and dense as heck. Male main character, surprisingly, also a doormat. All the troubles were of their own making. It simply didn’t flow and didn’t do it for me.

Dark Deception by Sarah Piper

Okay, I’m going to be completely honest with you guys. The main reason I picked up Dark Deception by Sarah Piper was sincerely because of narrator Shane East. I fell in love with his voice and narration style in a previous audiobook and just went through amazon to find anything he narrated that might check my boxes. This absolutely did it and surpassed my expectations! I went in expecting a vapid vampire romance with crepe paper thin plot and instead found an abundance of spice and plot that left me breathless.

The Final Scene by Steph Nelson

I don’t know what I expected when I picked up The Final Scene by Steph Nelson, but it wasn’t this. The premise felt muddled and almost as though it was an after thought to the actual story Nelson wanted to tell. The ending felt unsatisfying and the fact that there was a prologue available to help tie things up neater and yet it was walled behind a subscription to the author’s email list.

Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica

I’d seen mutuals that picked up and lost their minds over Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica. As it was listed as horror, I figured it was time to pick this up and give it a go for this spooky October. I honestly have to say, this wasn’t so much a horror than it […]

Black Sheep by Rachel Harrison

I definitely recommend reading Black Sheep by Rachel Harrison. There is a horror here that begins in the normalcy of the circumstances and just how easy it would be to find yourself in that situation. That’s where the horror lay for me – in how easy it is to fall victim to the seemingly benign cruelty of family and faith.

Lovely Violent Things by Trisha Wolfe

I honestly was on the fence about picking up Lovely Violent Things by Trisha Wolfe after finishing the first in the series. Yes, the first one ended in a cliffhanger that really intrigued me and wanted me to keep reading, but it wasn’t engaging enough to push it as a priority. Alas, a coworker pushed me into continuing the series since she wanted to know what happened next. I’m glad I gave in because this second installment in the Hollow’s Row series gave me everything the first book lacked!

Blood Feud by Moira Kane

When I wanted to find a simple, dragon shifter romance, Blood Feud by Moira Kane was there and it filled that want so extremely well!

Rising Sun by Donna Grant

I fell through a rabbit hole of clicking around, looking for something new to read when I found Rising Sun by Donna Grant. It had pretty good ratings, so I decided to pick up the audiobook to listen to at work. When I tell you that I’ve never been gladder to find a book at random! Narrator Shane East? To die for. The slow burn? Burned. This was just such a great romantasy!

There Is No Devil by Sophie Lark

It took me a bit to pick up There Is No Devil by Sophie Lark after finishing There Are No Saints months earlier. I think it might be the pretentiousness of it all. I wasn’t ready to dive back into hipster artists being weird together. That said, this conclusion to the Sinners duet really pays […]

The Pucking Wrong Number by CR Jane

I saw a goodreads mutual reading The Pucking Wrong Number by CR Jane, and then saw them immediately pick up the second in the series. That had me immediately picking this up and when I tell you, that mutual was not wrong because I also went and immediately picked up books 2 and 3 (though I haven’t had the time to start them yet.) This was a great dark hockey romance that was actually fairly dark, very spicy, and so enjoyable!

Hemlock Island by Kelley Armstrong

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up Hemlock Island by Kelley Armstrong. The title was intriguing, the cover eerie, and the synopsis enticing. What I thought would be a strong horror, turned out to be something much more subtle as we follow the complexities of small town families and friendships that can […]
